My name is Dr. Abdel Rahman Abuzaid, an oculoplastic and orbital surgeon from Jordan. I am reaching out to express my sincere interest in becoming involved with your highly respected society.
A small honest confession: my French is currently weak, but my motivation is not. Also, to the best of my knowledge, none of my mentors or senior colleagues in my country are members of SOPREF—so I may be arriving as a “first representative,” and I admit (with a smile) that I have essentially walked in and decided to join you.
Professionally, I take my work very seriously: I have advanced fellowship-level training in oculoplasty, orbital surgery, and ocular oncology, and I am confident that any requirements, contributions, or professional commitments expected by SOPREF will be met with a high standard. And if the requirements include French language proficiency, that is absolutely fine—I am ready to learn French properly.
